The mighty riverbed almost tears the meat from the bones

After consummation

Don’t look back… The inner truth. Self explanatory, magnetic and persuasive

I’ve been walking for days now. I can’t tell you how long, because the entire world has disappeared. I don’t even remember what the sky looked like. I don’t remember how I got here. All I know is that I’m walking through miles and miles of sand and I’m hungry. I’m so hungry, I could eat a horse. I’m so thirsty, I could drink a river. I’m so tired, I could sleep for a year. And I’m so lost, I could wander in circles for the rest of my life.

But that’s not really what’s bothering me. What’s really bothering me is the smell. It’s like something died and bloated in the air. And it’s coming from behind me. I can’t take it anymore. I turn around and I see it.

It’s the river.

It’s gigantic. It’s so wide, it’s like the world’s longest road. And it’s so deep, it looks like the world’s deepest ocean. And it’s full of blood. It’s full of meat. And it’s coming right for me.

I run as fast as I can, but I’m not fast enough. The river is too fast. It’s coming right for me, and it’s going to swallow me whole.

And then I see it.

In the distance, I see a tiny island. It’s a tiny island, and it’s the only thing stopping the river from swallowing me whole. But it’s going to take a lot of effort to get to the island. The river is so wide, and it’s so deep. It’s like the world’s biggest nightmare.

But I have to try. I have to save myself.

So I start swimming.

And I swim for hours and hours. I swim until my arms are sore. I swim until my lungs are gasping for air. But I make it to the island.

And then I collapse.

I collapse on the island, and I cry. I cry until my eyesight is blurry. I cry until my throat is raw. I cry until my body is sore.

But eventually, I calm down.

And I realize something.

The river wasn’t after me.

The river was after the meat.

The meat was what was rotting in the air. And the meat was what was killing the world.

And that’s why the river was coming for me.

But it didn’t have to be like this.

I could have been safe. I could have been saved.

But I didn’t listen.

And now the world is gone.
